Mounjaro Dose Schedule

2.5 mg Once Weekly

This is the usual starting dose for the first 4 weeks. It helps your body adjust to treatment before moving higher.

5 mg Once Weekly

After 4 weeks, the dose is usually increased to 5 mg once weekly. For many people, this is the first dose where appetite effects become more noticeable.

7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg and 15 mg

If needed, Mounjaro can be increased further in 2.5 mg steps. Each increase normally happens only after staying on the previous dose for at least 4 weeks.

What Each Dose Means

  • 2.5 mg: Starter dose to help your body get used to treatment
  • 5 mg: First standard treatment dose for many people
  • 7.5 mg and above: Higher doses used if more support is needed
  • 15 mg: Highest weekly dose

When Do You Increase the Dose?

Mounjaro is not designed to be rushed. The usual approach is to stay on each dose for at least 4 weeks before moving up.

This helps reduce side effects and gives your body time to adjust. Your prescriber will usually decide whether moving up is the right step based on tolerability and progress.

When Do You Take Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is taken once a week, on the same day each week if possible. It can be taken at any time of day, with or without food.

If needed, you can change your injection day as long as it has been at least 3 days since your last dose.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Increasing too quickly
  • Thinking the starter dose is meant to be the long-term dose for everyone
  • Comparing your dose progression with someone else’s
  • Changing dose without prescriber advice

Not Sure Where You Are in the Schedule?

  • Just starting? You will usually begin on 2.5 mg once weekly.
  • Finished 4 weeks? Many people then move to 5 mg.
  • Already tolerating treatment well? Your provider may consider a later increase if needed.
